2019 Splash Dogs

After a bit of a hiatus from shooting (work gets in the way… darnit), I’ve been getting back out and making some shots. Reno continues to have some fun events that are off the beaten path, including the Splash Dogs event in June though I was surprised it wasn’t better advertised. I happened to see it driving by one day.

The pool was setup outside of the Tamarack Casino in South Reno. I was surprised there weren’t a lot of spectators but plenty of dogs lined up and excited to get wet. I stayed for just a couple events. One was a timed event where the dogs jump in, swim across the length of the pool to grab a rope toy and bring it back across the pool to their waiting owner.

The second event I stayed for was the long jump where the dogs would run the length of the ramp and leap as far as they could, usually chasing a toy their owner tossed ahead of them. Most were eager to jump in and some had to be held back until it was time to jump.

Dogs have an uncanny way of being excited and spreading that enthusiasm to everyone they meet. These dogs were no exception to that rule as they entertained while simply having a great time. Fun time indeed.

Here are some shots from the day.
