Great Reno Balloon Races - Glow Show & Dawn Patrol 2019
It’s been awhile since I’ve dragged myself out of bed at 3:30AM to make the drive across town to Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno, NV to watch the “Glow Show” and Dawn Patrol at the Great Reno Balloon Races. I’m always amazed at the crowds that journey to the park at that early hour, especially the young kids who all seem so excited to go.
The show didn’t disappoint and was bigger and better than what I recall. Multiple balloons taking part in the glow show so the huge crowd could get a view regardless of where they sat, stood, or walked. From simultaneous “glows” to “twinkles” the orchestration of giant colorful light bulbs illuminated by propane and flames stood out against the predawn darkness. Dawn Patrol was just as satisfying, with eight balloons taking to the sky together and hovering over the field as they slowly danced in the sky.
Absolutely an amazing return to this staple of Northern Nevada events. Here are some of the shots from the morning. Enjoy.
